Ulta nail polish in Love Fern

Love Fern is one of Ulta's own brand of nail polish, and these can often be found on sale, both online and in their brick and mortar stores.  Love Fern has blue-green glitter particles suspended in a clear jelly.  Pretty, but between the silly name, glitter removal (ugh!) and the fact that it's not opaque until the fourth coat, this one is probably going to stay at the back of my polish collection.  Swatches are, from pinky to index, one, two, three and four coats.

Ulta nail polish in Ultra Violet Femme

Ultra Violet Femme is one of Ulta's own brand of nail polish, and these can often be found on sale, both online and in their brick and mortar stores.  Ultra Violet Femme is a vivid blue-toned purple metallic which is opaque in three coats.  It's not particularly unique, but it's a beautiful color and I'm glad I grabbed it!  All swatches are three coats.

Ulta often has their own line on sale--I got Ultra Violet Femme in a buy-two-get-two-free sale, and right now, Ulta's nail polishes are buy-two-get-one-free.

Ulta nail polish in My Two Cents

My Two Cents is one of Ulta's own brand of nail polish, and these can often be found on sale, both online and in their brick and mortar stores.  My Two Cents is a beautiful dark copper glitter suspended in a brown jelly.  Not grey, not black, brown, and it's opaque in two coats on its own!

When I bought this, Ulta was having a buy-two-get-two-free sale, plus I had a coupon, so I wound up paying about $2.50 for this polish.  My devotion to copper nail polish is no secret, and this one is near the top of my list, thanks to price, color and coverage!

My first indie polish: DifferentDimension Light It Up Blue

Different Dimension is the brainchild of a lovely fellow Ohioan.  Ms. Barry makes beautiful polishes, jewelry and magnets.  Light It Up Blue is a pale turquoise jelly base (that glows in the dark!)  with matte white hex glitter and small holographic round glitter.  I've shown two coats of Light it Up Blue over two coats of Zoya Phoebe.

I adore this polish, and 50% of the cost of this polish and Puzzle Pieces, another autism-inspired polish, goes to Autism Speaks.  Ms. Barry also has a gorgeous collection of glow in the dark Halloween polishes for $25!

Orly Naughty and Nice collection: Miss Conduct

Miss Conduct is part of Orly's 2012 Holiday collection, Naughty and Nice.  It's a beautiful dark pink scattered holo.  It's opaque in two coats on its own, and fires beautifully in the sun.  The polish is easy to work with, no pooling or dragging and not too thick or too thin.  Unfortunately, it's incredibly prone to tipwear and chipping.  The swatches are two coats, taken about 16 hours after the manicure, and you can see both tipwear and chipping on my non-dominant hand.

Miss Conduct is a lovely special occasion color, but it sure doesn't last. :(

Orly Naughty and Nice collection: Halo

Halo is part of Orly's 2012 Holiday collection, Naughty and Nice.  It's a very pretty cool gold and silver  glitter in a clear base.  It's not quite opaque in three coats on its own, but probably would be in four.  It's also lovely as a topper.  All swatches are, from left to right, one coat, two coats, three coats alone, one coat over black and one coat over white.

Removal of this lovely polish is typical for glitters--it takes a while and even with the foil method, the glitter gets everywhere.  Still, if you're looking for a cooler gold, this one is worth purchasing.  The Naughty and Nice collection is available now at www.transdesign.com and should be in brick and mortar stores before too long.
