Models Own Velvet Goth collection: Sardonyx

purchased by me

Next from the Velvet Goth collection we have Sardonyx, a blackened red with the same chunky glitter and the same thick formula as Absinthe, Amethyst and Valerian.  Although Sardonyx was easy to use, opaque in two coats and dried in fifteen minutes, it also chipped in less than one day.  I think I'll thin this one and try with three thinner coats, because it's a gorgeous color.

Models Own Velvet Goth collection: Obsidian

purchased by me

Next from the Velvet Goth collection we have Obsidian, a black with the chunky silver glitter and thinner formula than Absinthe, Amethyst and Valerian.  Obsidian was easy to use, opaque in three coats and dried in about ten minutes.

Models Own Velvet Goth collection: Valerian

purchased by me

Valerian is a blackened royal blue with the same chunky glitter and the same thick formula as Absinthe and Amethyst.  It was easy to use, opaque in two coats, dried in fifteen minutes and is a gorgeous color.  The weird patchy bits that show in the flash picture were not visible at conversational distance, and I'm inclined to blame my photography rather than the polish.

Models Own Velvet Goth collection: Absinthe

purchased by me

When I got an e-mail telling me the Velvet Goth box set was available for £20 + shipping from Models Own, and it wasn't yet available on either Ninja Polish or Llarowe, I jumped on it.  It wound up costing about the same as it would have to get the polishes from a US stockist, and was super fast--I ordered on Friday and they were on my porch the next Tuesday!

First up is Absinth, a blackened blue-green with lots of chunky glitter.  The formula was a bit thick, but not gloopy, it was opaque in two coats and dried fully in fifteen minutes.  This feels like a winter color to me, the color of the shadows between pine needles on a snowy day.

The Velvet Goth collection is available now at Models Own and their stockists.  If you love green and texture, get Absinthe--you won't be sorry!

Sunday Sneak Peek: 10/7-10/11

purchased by me

A funny thing happened while I was swatching the Model's Own Velvet Goth collection today.  I was at the kitchen window getting sunlight shots of Obsidian when my younger dog went absolutely nuts barking.  I looked out the window and saw a groundhog in the front yard, something I haven't seen for a couple of years!  Pics are here on my other blog, and that's why there's no thumbnail of Sardonyx in this post--I was so excited to get the groundhog pics off the camera that I completely forgot about it!  I'll be wearing it and photographing it tomorrow, though. :D
