Models Own Disco Pants: Roxy

purchased by me

Roxy is a gorgeous red-toned purple with vibrant blue shimmer.  It's the kind of polish that will make you stare at your nails and lose track of what you're doing.  It's also a very well-behaved polish, going precisely where you put it and reaching opacity in two coats.

Roxy is available on the Models Own website for £4.99 + shipping, and the site ships internationally and takes Paypal.

Just a quick note and some bad nail art

press sample/purchased by me

I'm still alive, just in the middle of ruining my hands cleaning, assembling boxes and packing said boxes with the contents of the living room so the painters and then the carpet guys can get in.  Details on the home reno are on Curmudgeonette.  My kitchen is oak, sage, and copper with a steampunk vibe, so since I promised myself to practice my stamping, I got out a steampunk Bundle Monster plate and stamped!

The base is Zoya Sage, natch, and the stamping was done with Spa Ritual Running with Wolves.  I need to practice, practice, practice, but here's a picture anyway:

Thanks for sticking around, and there will be more (and hopefully better) nail art in my future!

Models Own Studio 54

purchased by me

Posting a couple of pictures of a polish that makes me happy, Models Own Studio 54 from the Disco Pants collection.  It's a very vivid hot pink shimmer that blew out my camera under flash and looked slightly more sedate in the sunlight.

Studio 54 is an easy two-coater with a smooth formula and a quick dry time.

Studio 54 and the rest of the Disco Pants collection can be found at Models Own  website for £4.99 + shipping.  They ship to the US and accept Paypal.

Butter London Wrong as Hell Right as Rain

purchased by me

This year is Butter London's 10th anniversary, so each month they're bringing out a limited edition polish.  I loved the sound of January's polish, Right as Rain, which was described as a grey-blue shimmer.  I was incredibly disappointed with the reality, especially since I paid full price.  I wanted the soft shimmery color of a winter sky, what I got was a blue frosty polish prone to brush strokes.  Ugh.

Oh, and it showed off my bumps and ridges too.  Right as Rain is no longer available on the Butter London site, but if you want one, you might be able to find it on the secondary market.

Got my Zoya mini mystery polishes!

purchased by me

Left to right, Severina, Anais and Charlotte.  None of these names come up on the website, so I wonder if there's a new collection on the way...

Swatches and reviews coming next week!

The Alesha manicure

press sample/purchased by me

Time for some bad nail art!  Woo! :-)

I have a co-worker who is bubbly, fun, sweet and half my age, but she still knows her movies, and sometimes I'm the only one who gets her references and vice versa.  One of the outfits I like on her is a mint colored shirt with a royal blue sweater, and when she wore it on Monday, I told her I was going to do a mani inspired by it on Tuesday.

So here is the Alesha, a freehand half-moon mani with Zoya Tiana and OPI Miss Piggy's Big Number:

Clearly, I need to practice more, but I love the color combo and I made a friend smile, so it's good.
