Cirque Colors Bejeweled

purchased by me

Bejeweled, part of the Arcus collection from Cirque Colors, is a bright royal blue polish with a ton of linear holographic shimmer.  The rainbows are visible in low light and with flash, they're so dazzling that my photos got all blurry!  The formula is silky-smooth and very well behaved, opaque in two coats and sadly, chipped after one day.  At a price point of $15, I was hoping for a longer-lasting polish.

Nubar Contempo

purchased by me

Contempo was part of Nubar's Modern Matte collection a couple of years ago, and it's still my favorite matte red.  It's a true red, not leaning too orange or too blue, it has a soft, glowy matte finish and it's opaque in two easy coats.

Contempo is no longer available on Nubar's site, but if you do a search, you can find it for sale.

Cirque Lullaby and Glam Polish Mermagic

purchased by me

I was clearly in the mood for soft, pastel glitters, because I bought Cirque Lullaby and Glam Polish Mermagic at almost the exact same time.  Both are pretty polishes with a variety of glitter in a clear base, both have good formulas that are thick without being gloppy and both have a nice spread on the glitter.  The differences between the two are that Lullaby has matte glitter and includes squares and Mermagic has shiny glitter.

Santa Hat French

purchased by me

Happy Christmas Eve to those who celebrate, and Happy Tuesday to those who are just glad the traffic is light! ;)  My whimsical mani today is inspired by a Santa Hat, and it's so easy even I could execute it!  I used one coat of Nubar Contempo, a gorgeous matte red, and outlined the tips with OPI Solitaire.  Ta-da, a velvet hat with fluffy trim!

And my inspiration, my beloved Christmas hat:

Cirque Vaudeville

purchased by me

Vaudeville is a soft, blue-toned purple dusted with gold shimmer.  It's opaque in two coats of Cirque's typically flawless formula, and needs a quick top coat for maximum shine.  My swatch is two coats before top coat.

Vaudeville is available at Cirque Colors for $13.00 + shipping.

Cirque Arcane Fire

purchased by me

Arcane Fire is part of the Alchemical collection from Cirque, and it is a beauty!  The base is a rich raspberry jelly, and it's stuffed with gold shimmer.  Application was flawless, with perfect consistency and it was opaque in two coats.  It's also quite shiny, but it does need a quick layer of top coat for maximum gloss.  Swatch is two coats, no top coat.

Arcane Fire is available at Cirque Colors for $13.00 + shipping.

Incoco Santa's Forest

purchased by me

Santa's Forest nail polish strips have green trees on a white background with a soft, satin matte finish.  This is such a cute winter look that I wore it for our office holiday party.  Application was easy, the strips provided full coverage, and they lasted five days!

If you'd like some easy holiday art for your fingers, you can get Santa's Forest at Incoco's website for $8.99 + shipping.

KB Shimmer Snow Much Fun

purchased by me

Snow Much Fun is a pale blue milky jelly stuffed with snowflake glitter, white circle glitter, blue holo glitter and silver holo micro-glitter.  The formula is lovely, smooth and easy to work with, and so pretty that it wouldn't bother me if I hadn't gotten any snowflakes on my nails.  Swatches are two coats with no fishing and I still got snowflakes on my nails!  Snow Much Fun dries shiny but bumpy, so if that bothers you, use a nice thick top coat to smooth things out. :)

KB Shimmer Snow Flaking Way

purchased by me

Snow Flaking Way is a gorgeous blue-leaning purple jelly packed with silver holo hexes, mini bars, circle and snowflake glitters.  The viscosity is like Baby Bear's bed, just right.  For my swatches, I used three coats without fishing for any of the glitters.

KB Shimmer Kringle All the Way

purchased by me

Kringle All the Way is a super-festive glitter topper with green, red and holo white circle glitter in a variety of sizes.  The consistency is thicker but not gloppy and the polish is very well-behaved.  I didn't have to fish for the big glitters, either.  For my swatches I used one coat of Kringle All the Way over Cult Nails Tempest, but I can't wait to try this over black, red, green and blue!

Foster dog nails

products purchased by me

Yesterday I mentioned that it hasn't been the best holiday season ever at Casa de Jammies, and part of that was the passing of my 14 year old Yellow Lab foster dog, Mouse.  Mouse came to me in January of 2012, and gave me a ton of undemanding love and companionship.  To honor him, I decided on a simple manicure of Sally Hansen Crackle polish in Antiqued Gold over Revlon Parfumerie Fresh Linen.  Simple colors that reminded me of his coat.

The blog sale I'm not having again this year

The pretty little cosmetic bags are all lined up--ten of them, filled with nearly 40 bottles of polish from Cult Nails, China Glaze, Dr. Lacquer, OPI, Orly, Illamasqua, Glitter Daze and Zoya.  Tomorrow they will go to Good Neighbors for their holiday store, packed in a silver Justin Bieber tote bag Ulta insisted I have and which will probably make some tween as happy as the nail polish. ;)  It's been a rough couple of weeks here at Casa de Jammies, so I'm really happy I have the means to make someone else happy.

Glitter Daze Sunset in the City collection: Twilight in Tuscon

purchased by me

Twilight in Tuscon is possibly my favorite Sunset in the City polish, both alone and over black.  It's a soft copper-rose base with pink-to-purple color-shifting scattered holographic glitter.  The formula is just gorgeous, smooth and easy and nearly opaque in one coat without being thick, plus it's super-shiny even before top coat.  For swatches I used one coat over black on my index and middle fingers and two coats of Twilight in Tuscon on my ring and pinky fingers.

Glitter Daze Sunset in the City collection: Nightfall in NYC

purchased by me

Nightfall in NYC is another shade-shifter from Glitter Daze.  It's a pinkish-brown base with purple-to-blue color-shifting holographic glitter.  The formula was easy to work with and opaque in two coats.  I much prefer it over black, as the base color looks like June bugs to me, which brings back some unpleasant memories. *shudder*  I used two coats of Nightfall in NYC on my ring and pinky fingers and one coat over black on my index and middle fingers, and no top coat because it was quite shiny on its own.

Glitter Daze Sunset in the City collection: Sundown in Seattle

purchased by me

Sundown in Seattle is a copper scattered holographic shimmer which shows a pronounced color shift to a plummy brown when worn over black.  The formula was smooth and easy to work with, and it was opaque in two coats.  In stronger light, the holo is almost linear!  My swatches show two coats on my ring and middle fingers and one coat over black on my ring and index finger.

Revlon Parfumerie: Autumn Spice

purchased by me

Autumn Spice has quickly become one of the darlings of the nail polish world, and I'm certainly not immune to its charms!  It's a reddish-brown scented polish with copper and gold shimmer, is opaque in two coats, applies beautifully, and dries quickly.  The scent is not super-spicy, it's got a vanilla note plus a cinnamon/clove note, and it's not obtrusive.

If you haven't scooped up this beauty yet, you should be able to find it at your local drugstore.  Thankfully, the Parfumerie polishes are a permanent addition to Revlon's nail polish collection!  I paid full price, about $6 US, for mine, but you can probably do better.  I was in a hurry to own this one. ;-)
